Outdoor Adventure Girls big weekends are designed to give you the time to reconnect with yourself, get outdoors in nature and connect with other women. We now host OAG retreats all over the UK throughout the year, this being our eighth weekend away, with more to come in 2023.

Outdoor Adventure Girls – Lake District

DATE: 1-3 September 2023

LOCATION: Lake District, UK

ACCOMMODATION: YHA Ambleside

THE LOCATION

The Lake District is a region and national park in Cumbria in northwest England. A popular vacation destination, it’s known for its lakes, rugged mountains and historic past. Market towns such as Kendal, Ambleside and Keswick on scenic Derwentwater are bases for exploring the area and home to traditional inns, galleries of local art and outdoor equipment shops. For our weekend we will be based in the beautiful town of Ambleside.

THE SCHEDULE

Please note that this is subject to change, but it will give you an idea of what to expect.

An itinerary will be sent to all booked guests one month before the event, with all details needed to attend the weekend. There is also a WhatsApp chat for all attendees to plan car sharing and chatting before. 

Friday

5pm onwards: Check in to YHA Ambleside

+ meet your fellow OAG guests and grab a drink from the bar inside the hostel

7pm: Welcome from OAG outside in front of the lake (weather permitting)

7:30pm: Welcome dinner

8.30pm: Empowerment session with your host

Saturday

8.30am:  Breakfast

9am-5pm: Guided group hike up a nearby mountain with trained Mountain Leaders

5pm: Back to YHA to shower

6pm: Optional wild swim on Lake Windermere

7.30pm: Dinner

8.30pm: FREE time (read a book, grab a glass of wine, hang out at the hostel with friends, or have an early night)

Sunday

8.00am: Breakfast

9.00am: Check out and put bags in cars

10am: Group paddleboarding session on Lake Windermere

1pm: Lunch at local pub

3pm: DEPART

THE ACCOMMODATION

Our accommodation for the weekend is the stunning YHA Ambleside. Situated right on the shores of Windermere, this stylish youth hostel offers an unbeatable location, stunning views, and state of the art facilities.

Each morning you can enjoy a hearty-cooked breakfast served in the dining area, and then later on after a day full of adventure this is also where we will enjoy home-cooked meals in the evenings. 

There is a lovely bar that looks out over Lake Windermere and it serves a variety of drinks including local ales. There is also Wi-Fi access is available in public areas of the property.

Our accommodation for the trip will be in 4-bed and 6-bed dorms, exclusive to our group.

NOTE: There is limited car parking at this hostel, if the hostel car park is full when you arrive you will need to arrange car parking yourself. There is lots of public parking around the hostel, only a few minutes away or we you could travel via public transport.

  • 2-nights accommodation in shared accommodation
  • 2 x breakfasts at YHA Ambleside
  • 2 x dinners at YHA Ambleside
  • Empowerment session with your host
  • Guided hike up nearby mountains (with trained mountain leaders)
  • Group paddleboarding session on Lake Windermere (including giant paddleboards)

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED

  • Travel to and from the weekend.
  • Saturday lunch is not included as we will be on top of a mountain!
