Welcome to Outdoor Adventure Girls
Outdoor Adventure Girls is a UK wide community for women who love hiking, adventure and getting outdoors. We exist to make it easier for women to connect through nature, build confidence outside and find genuine friendship along the way.
We run local meetups, guided day hikes, weekend escapes and international adventure trips, all designed to be welcoming, safe and supportive spaces for women of all experience levels.
At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: the outdoors should feel accessible, not intimidating. Too many women feel unsure about getting out on their own, so we create opportunities to explore together, learn new skills and feel confident in wild spaces.
We also know how powerful time outdoors can be for mental wellbeing. Our trips are a chance to slow down, switch off from everyday life and reconnect with yourself, with nature and with a community of women who just get it.
How it all began
Outdoor Adventure Girls was founded by Sophie after experiencing a life-changing event in her early twenties. Following a sexual assault, she spent years feeling isolated and afraid. But as she slowly reconnected with the outdoors, she discovered its healing power and knew she wanted other women to feel that same sense of freedom and strength.
Sophie went on to work with the Ministry of Justice on the It Still Matters campaign, encouraging survivors of sexual violence to seek support, no matter how much time has passed.
Outdoor Adventure Girls became her way of showing women that they already have everything they need; confidence, courage, and community to get outside and live fully.
Where we are now
Three years later, Outdoor Adventure Girls has grown to over 100,000 women nationwide, supported by 14 regional Facebook groups and a team of 20 incredible volunteer moderators.
We host monthly weekend trips across the UK — from Scotland to the Lake District, Snowdonia to the New Forest — packed with adventure activities like hiking, paddleboarding, kayaking, yoga, and wild swimming.
In 2023, we expanded to international adventures, taking women to Bali, France, Iceland, and Morocco — with so many more destinations planned for the years ahead.

Our charity initiative
Each year Outdoor Adventure Girls donates proceeds from their profits to a charity that supports women in a variety of ways in the UK. Thank you to everyone who voted in this year’s charity initiative vote. Our chosen charity of the year is Refuge. Refuge is the largest domestic abuse organisation in the UK.
