Outdoor Adventure Girls big weekends are designed to give you the time to reconnect with yourself, get outdoors in nature and connect with other women. We now host OAG retreats all over the UK throughout the year, this being our eighth weekend away, with more to come in 2023. 

OVERVIEW

Outdoor Adventure Girls – Yorkshire Three Peaks

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is 24-miles round trip route including 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres), usually in this order and in under 12 hours. These hills form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

DATE: 18-20 August 2023

LOCATION: Yorkshire Dales

ACCOMMODATION: YHA Malham

IMPORTANT: Please consider your fitness levels when booking this trip as this challenge is for those with a good level of fitness and experience of climbing mountains.

THE LOCATION

The Yorkshire Dales National Park is in northern England and encompasses thousands of square miles of moors, valleys, hills and villages. Southeast, on the River Wharfe, the Bolton Abbey Estate includes the ruins of a 12th-century monastery.

Malham village features a towering cliff, and a footpath leading to Gordale Scar, a limestone ravine with waterfalls and will be our base for the weekend.

THE SCHEDULE

Please note that this is subject to change, but it will give you an idea of what to expect.

An itinerary will be sent to all booked guests one month before the event, with all details needed to attend the weekend. There is also a WhatsApp chat for all attendees to plan car sharing and chatting before. 

Friday 18 August

5pm onwards: Check in to YHA Malham + meet your fellow OAG guests

6:30pm: Welcome from your host for the weekend

7.30pm: Dinner at YHA Malham

8.00pm: Briefing session from our Mountain Leader guides for the next day.

Saturday 19 August

5.30am: Breakfast

6.00am: Drive to the start point

6.30am: Briefing and final prep with your trained mountain leaders and get ready to start the challenge.

7:00am: YORKSHIRE THREE PEAKS CHALLENGE COMMENCES!!!

7:00pm: Celebratory lap at The Golden Lion

7:30pm: Back to YHA Malham to shower and change

8.00pm: Dinner at YHA Malham (subject to timings finishing the Y3P!)

Sunday 20 August

8.30am: Breakfast at YHA Malham

09.30am: Check out and drive to Falcon Manor Hotel

10.00am: Yoga class with Leena from Leena’s Yoga Space

12pm: Lunch at Falcon Manor Hotel

1pm: DEPART

THE ACCOMMODATION

Our accommodation for the weekend is the amazing YHA Malham. Set just a short distance from the famous Malham Cove and Gordale Scar, YHA Malham offers comfortable accommodation for those taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, perfectly located in the heart of a beautiful dales.

Surrounded by classic limestone scenery and with a prime location in the centre of the village, the hostel boasts a well-appointed restaurant, pretty grounds and a vast range of bedroom types, including the recent addition of ensuite facilities.

Our accommodation for the trip will be in 4-bed and 6-bed dorms, exclusive to our group.

NOTE: There is limited car parking at this hostel.

  • 2-nights accommodation at YHA Malham
  • 2 x breakfasts at YHA Malham
  • 2 x dinners at YHA Malham
  • 12-hour hike to complete the famous Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, including summitting Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough with trained mountain leaders (ratio 1:10)
  • Sunday morning activity TBC

  • Travel to and from the weekend
  • Lunches are not included – we would suggest you bring a packed lunch as we will be on the mountain!
  • Extra food and drink outside of the weekend inclusions
