Am I too old to join Outdoor Adventure Girls?

No, you are never too old. We’ve had women join us on day event, weekends away and overseas trips from 20 years old to 67 years old. We like to think age is just a number and within Outdoor Adventure Girls,  we leave our age at the door. After all, we are nearly always young at heart!

It’s my first time hiking, can I still join a trip?

We’d love you to join any of our trips.  If it’s your first time hiking, we’d suggest you do a few smaller hikes on the lead up to the trip and always make sure you’ve walked your boots in to avoid blisters!

How do I know if I will be fit enough to join a hike?

We always stick together during our hikes but you can always find out the difficulty level by visiting the relevant post on our Instagram page (linked here) which will show you the difficulty level (1, 2 or 3)

I’m nervous, can I come solo or does everyone come with someone else?

The majority of our group are solo adventurers and that’s what makes joining an Outdoor Adventure Girls trip so rewarding!  You arrive solo but everyone is so welcoming and inclusive that you never feel alone!  So many of our ladies have gone on to arrange their own meet ups, outside of one of the OAG events and have become really good friends!

Why aren’t all your ML/HML guides and outdoor instructors women?

We always try to have female mountain/hill moorland leaders but sometimes, they’re not always available.  It’s dependent on the location, dates and other various factors.

How do I book one of your trips?

To book one of our trips, just visit our website (www.outdooradventuregirls.com) and find the trip there.

Can I pay in instalments?

UK – Yes to some trips but it’s always best to check the website and see what options are available for each trip.

Overseas – yes all of the overseas trips are available to pay by instalments.

Is the trip confirmed straight away?

Each trip has a set minimum number for the trip to take place; both for UK weekends and overseas trips. Our overseas trips have a minimum number of 14, whereas our UK weekends have a minimum number of 20 guests.

Our trips are normally fully booked, however, if we do not reach the minimum numbers we may need to cancel your trip. We decide on whether an event is likely to be cancelled no less than eight weeks before an event.

What if I need to cancel my spot?

We know that things can happen and change, therefore, you may cancel your booking at any time, but all bookings are non-refundable.  Due to the fact that all bookings are non-refundable, we do allow guests to sell their space to another community member but this is only possible when the event has sold out.

If you wish to cancel within 12 weeks of the event date, regrettably, we will not be able to process a transfer.  If you find someone to sell your place to, please help us process this quickly by sending us the name and email address of the person you are selling to.  The transfer of places is a monetary transaction between you and the buyer, not Outdoor Adventure Girls.

To cancel your order, please email us at [email protected]. To help us process your cancellation more quickly, please have your order number ready or include it in the email or cancellation form you send to us.

Do I need travel insurance?

We require you to take out relevant and adequate travel insurance as a condition of booking a trip with us. This is most important with our overseas events, but we also recommend this for any UK events, in the event you are taken unwell or are injured.

We strongly advise that you take out a policy of insurance as soon as you book your trip with us or our provider, to cover you against the cost of any unforeseen circumstances such as cancellation by you, accident, illness, injury, loss of baggage and money.

This is your responsibility and we accept no liability for arranging travel insurance for our customers.

At our events

What is the food like?

The food included will be outlined in your itinerary.  We can cater for any dietary requirements and gather the requirements before the event so we can make sure that everyone can enjoy their meal with us

Do I have to share a room?

Some of the events might offer a single occupancy room (at an additional fee) so if you didn’t want to share a room, you can book a single occupancy room.

What should I wear to an event?

UK Hiking Trips: You should always check the weather a few days prior to the event to see what the weather might bring.  We always suggest packing waterproof, warm clothing but also, if it’s summer, pack a pair of shorts.

Good hiking footwear is essential along with a good sized daypack (20L should be fine) along with a bottle for drinks and any snacks you might require on the day.  Everything will be covered in your weekend itinerary.

Overseas Trips: This will vary depending on where your overseas trip is to!  For Iceland, pack warm, thermal layers, gloves, a hat and warm footwear. For Bali, pack according to the weather and culture.  Everything will be covered in your travel itinerary.

What time does everything begin on the first day of your trips? (UK and overseas)

Once you have booked on the trip, you will be sent an itinerary which gives you the full details of when the trip officially starts, if there is parking at the location and anything else that you might need to know prior to the trip.

When and where will the event finish? (UK and overseas)

This is something that is covered in the itinerary that is sent to you.  As flights are not included in our overseas trips, then you can fly back to whichever airport is most suitable to you.

For our UK trips, some of these are self drive and any that have transport arranged, there will be a central meeting location where you will be collected from and returned to.  For example, our National Three Peaks trip set off and returned to a location near Chester as this is the most central location for that trip.

How do I get to the event?

That’s entirely up to you!  We don’t provide flights nor are we responsible for how far you decide to travel to arrive at the starting point of an event or trip (UK or overseas)

We may provide information regarding how to arrive at the starting point (which train stations are closest, if there is any parking available) but it remains your own responsibility to make your own travel arrangements for before and after the trip.

We accept no responsibility or liability in regards to your travel arrangements to the event.

I don’t drive, how can I attend your trips without my own transport?

Often, our trips are in a location that can be reached via public transport. Before the events, we create a What’s App group where all attendees are added (with their permission) and we encourage everyone to car share where possible.  Someone might be going who lives not far from you. There have also been times where members of the group have collected each other from the nearest train/bus station.

I am driving to one of your events, is there parking?

Some of our events have limited parking, some have plenty, some have none.  It really depends on the location/accommodation/venue but this is clarified when you get your itinerary.

I am worried about the weather, what if it rains?

In the event of bad weather, we may need to make changes to the itinerary and (but not limited to) the included activities to something more suitable or safe. Attendees will be updated through our various communications channels in the lead-up to any event. Your safety is always our number one priority. No refunds will be offered for changes to the itinerary.
