THE LOCATION

For this Outdoor Adventure Girls weekend we are heading to the beautiful Snowdonia National Park in Wales.

Situated on the west coast of Britain, covering 823 square miles of diverse landscapes, Snowdonia National Park is a living, working area, and is home to over 26,000 people. As well as being the largest National Park in Wales, Snowdonia boasts the highest mountain in England and Wales.

The park’s historic Snowdon Mountain Railway climbs to the summit of Wales’s highest mountain, Mount Snowdon, offering views across the sea to Ireland. The park is also home to an extensive network of trails, over 100 lakes and craggy peaks like Cader Idris and Tryfan.

THE SCHEDULE

Please note that this is subject to change, but will give you an idea of what to expect.

An itinerary will be sent to all booked guests one month before the event, with all details needed to attend the weekend.

There is also a WhatsApp chat for all attendees to plan car sharing and chatting before.

Saturday 22 April

8am:  Breakfast

9am: LET’S CLIMB SNOWDON!!! (6-7 hours/13km)

Hiking up Mount Snowdon is amazing bucket list experience and we believe it’s even better when you do it with a group of like-minded women supporting each other.

We are likely to take the Miner’s Track route up to the summit.

We begin our ascent from outside the hostel at 8am and hike for around 6-7 hours in total. The Snowdon hike is challenging but with the right mountain guides, equipment and cheering on from the rest of the group it’s more than possible to do it with a smile on your face.

After getting to the summit we begin our journey down back to base for a celebratory drink.

5pm-7pm: FREE time, read a book, take a nap, have a drink!

7pm: Dinner

8pm: Games night (a relaxed evening playing cards, board games etc.)

THE ACCOMMODATION

Our accommodation for the weekend is YHA Snowdon Pen-y-Pass, located sits at the foot of Mount Snowdon, giving adventure lovers a head start up the mountain.

What they lack in mobile signal, they make up in fabulous décor and comfy places to relax after your hike, with friends. Groups can spread out in their stylish lounge or enjoy a drink from the licensed bar. The accommodation has an array of options but for this weekend we will be hiring an array of 4-bed and 6-bed dorms for our group.

If you would like to have your own room, this is an option, but comes with a single supplement of £30 per person, per night (see below). Limited single rooms available.

PARKING

Please note parking for this hostel is limited, with it being so close to the beginning of Snowdon. The hostel does not have parking itself, but there is a car park across the road which you can reserve via Just Park. There is also a car park down the road at Cae Gwyn, Nant Peris, Caernarfon LL55 4UH and then you can catch the Sherpa Bus to the hostel, or you can park in Llanberis and travel via Sherpa Bus. We will also be finishing our weekend at Llanberis.
