Itinerary

Day 1

  • Suggested flight arrival time: 10am or earlier
  • Travel to Portree from Inverness by private mini bus with surprise stops!
  • Arrive in the charming capital of the Isle of Skye
  • Check in to your accommodation and take some time to relax
  • Welcome and introduction with your OAG host
  • Ice-breaker session with your OAG host
  • Dinner

Day 2

  • Breakfast 
  • Visit and hike to The Old Man of Storr, one of Skye’s most iconic landmarks (5.5km, 357m elevation gain, 2 hours)
  • Enjoy a packed lunch with a view
  • Visit and hike to see Quiraing, a dramatic landslip offering spectacular scenery (8km, 391m elevation gain, 3 hours)
  • Continue to Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls Viewpoint to see the waterfall plunging into the sea
  • Free time to relax
  • Dinner

Day 3

  • Breakfast
  • Travel to Neist Point Lighthouse, one of the most picturesque spots on Skye
  • Then head to the white sand of Claigan Coral Beach and admire its clear blue water
  • Enjoy a packed lunch with a view
  • Travel onwards to the Fairy Pools near Glenbrittle and take a hike to the crystal-clear pools (7.4km, 287m elevation gain, approx. 3 hours)
  • Stop at Sligachan Bridge for a final photo opportunity with the Cuillin Hills in the background
  • Free time to relax
  • Dinner

Day 4

  • Breakfast 
  • Check out
  • Explore Portree’s colorful harbor and stroll along Scorrybreac Circuit
  • Travel back to Inverness from Portree by private mini bus with stops at Loch Ness and Eilean Donan Castle
  • Suggested flight departure time: 5pm or later

Accommodation

Located in the heart of Portree, capital of the Isle of Skye, and one of Scotland’s most popular destinations, Portree Youth Hostel sits in a natural harbour, surrounded by hills and offers a range of accommodation from small private en-suites to spacious shared dorms, some with magnificent sea views. All rooms have USB charging points and most have individual bed lights.

WiFi is free for all guests and other facilities include: a well-equipped self-catering kitchen, a small, cosy lounge with stunning views over the Sound of Rassay, a laundry and drying room. Basic provisions, confectionery and soft drinks are available to purchase at reception.

NOTE: There is car parking at this accommodation, but if you can car share with someone please do. We love our planet! There is a large long-stay car park nearby which is free between the hours of 8pm – 8am. Outside these times charges apply, ranging from £1 for 2 hours to £4.50 for 12 hours.

Please note: Accommodation at this hostel is on 3 different levels and there is no lift.

Food

Our meals for the weekend will be prepared on-site at our accommodation, for breakfast and we will eat out in town for dinner. Saturday and Sunday lunch is not included, as we will be out all day, so please bring something to eat, such as a packed lunch.

Getting here

All transport is included on this weekend. Included within your spot is both journeys from Inverness airport to Portree and back, plus two full days of transport to all of the stops on our Isle of Skye itinerary. Plus additional surprise stops along the way!

What kit do I need?

  • Hiking/outdoor clothing including trail running shoes or hiking boots
  • A towel and any cosmetics and toiletries
  • Waterproof jacket, plus hat
  • Fleece or warm jumper
  • Small daypack for hiking and/or when out and about

It is the attendee’s responsibility to have the appropriate travel insurance for this trip. Please let us know if you have appropriate travel insurance before the trip.
