Escape the hustle and recharge with our weekend campout this summer with OAG and CampWild! We are so excited to partner with CampWild for this event, bringing their expert knowledge of the outdoors to the weekend.

Immerse yourself in breath-taking landscapes and meaningful connections, all whilst getting to know your adventurous side.

Start your weekend with a camp set up and introductions on the Friday, followed by a guided hike to Thor’s Cave on the Saturday before returning with a 101: Introduction to wild camping workshop with expert, before spending the evening relaxing with the fire pits. Then on the Sunday join an Alpaca Trek before heading home.

Accommodation

Our location for the weekend is at the beautiful Oak Moor Farm in the Peak District. Dating back to the 1800’s Oak Moor Farm is a traditional farm set in 11 areas of rolling countryside.

On the doorstep of Oak Moor Farm are the local villages of Grindon and Butterton, within easy access to Thors Cave, Manifold Valley and Alton Towers whilst also on the edge of the Derbyshire Dales.

This weekend requires guests to bring their own tent with them, as well as sleeping bag and any of the other comforts you need for a weekend camping.

What to bring:

Camping essentials

  • Tent (shared or solo)
  • Sleeping bag (3-season recommended)
  • Sleeping mat or air mattress
  • Pillow (or packable travel one)
  • Head torch or flashlight (plus batteries!)
  • Reusable water bottle (1L+)
  • Day backpack (for hikes and outings)
  • Camp chair or picnic blanket (optional but great)

Optional: Cooking stove / gas / cutlery

Food

Our meals for the weekend will be prepared on-site at the farm for breakfast and dinner. Saturday lunch is not included, as we will be out and guests may want to bring it with them whilst hiking. Please do bring something to eat for Saturday lunch, this could be a sandwich or you can make up lunch in the kitchen when we get back.

Friday

  • Arrive at the venue

  • Group ice-breaker session with your host

  • Evening fire pits with ‘smores!

Saturday

  • Breakfast
  • Guided group hike to Thor’s Cave and the Manifold Valley (10km)
  • Back to our campsite to make our lunch
  • Bushcraft workshop with expert-survival expert Naomi Aldwyn-Allsworth (on Channel 4’s Alone)
  • Free time to connect with your fellow explorers
  • Dinner
  • Evening quiz night!
  • Bedtime

Sunday

  • Tent pack down and clear away
  • Breakfast
  • Alpaca Trek experience with expert-handler Adrian and the team
  • Goodbyes

Getting here

The venue for our weekend is in the middle of the Peak District, just outside the village of around 25 minutes from Ashbourne. The nearest station is Matlock. You can coordinate car-sharing in the trip WhatsApp group.

What kit do I need?

  • Hiking/outdoor clothing including trail running shoes or hiking boots
  • A towel and any cosmetics and toiletries
  • Waterproof jacket, plus hat
  • Fleece or warm jumper
  • Small daypack for hiking and/or when out and about
