Hello! Welcome to Slovenia, often referred to as ‘Europe in Miniature’ for its incredible diversity and charm. Slovenia is renowned for its hearty alpine stews, goulash, and sauerkraut, as well as its delightful cakes and strudels. The coastal Karst region offers culinary treasures such as teran wine, prsut (air-dried ham), and exquisite olive oils. Picturesque Ljubljana is the perfect starting point for your culinary adventure, boasting a surprisingly diverse food scene that includes fantastic local eateries, modern restaurants, street food, cafes, and cake shops. Your journey officially begins with a welcome meeting at 6 pm, followed by a welcome dinner where your leader can recommend a fantastic place in the heart of the city to sample some
delicious traditional dishes.

Day 2: Ljubljana

On day 2, your adventure continues with a visit to the magnificent Ljubljana Castle, where you’ll enjoy a funicular ride offering breathtaking views of the city. After exploring the castle, you’ll embark on a delightful food tour that highlights the local culinary scene, followed by a visit to the bustling markets, where you can immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere and discover fresh, local produce and unique Slovenian specialties.

Day 3: Bled
Meals Included: Breakfast
On day 3, your adventure continues in the enchanting town of Bled. You’ll start with a traditional Pletna boat ride to the picturesque Bled Island, offering serene views of the lake and surrounding Julian Alps. After exploring the island, you’ll visit the stunning Vintgar Gorge, a natural wonder just outside of Bled. As you walk along the wooden boardwalks and bridges, you’ll be captivated by the crystal-clear Radovna River, cascading waterfalls, and lush greenery that surround you. This breathtaking gorge offers an unforgettable experience, immersing you in the serene and pristine beauty of Slovenia’s natural landscape.

Day 4: Bohinj and Smartno
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch
On day 4, you’ll embark on a scenic train ride from Bohinjska Bistrica to Nova Gorica, passing through some of Slovenia’s most picturesque landscapes with breathtaking views of verdant valleys, rolling hills, and charming villages. Your day will start, with an early visit to Bohinj for a scenic morning hike around the lake finishing with a local lunch. In the evening, you’ll visit the quaint village of Šmartno, where you’ll indulge in a delightful wine tasting experience. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to sample some of the finest local wines, enjoying the rich flavors and learning about the region’s winemaking traditions in a truly idyllic setting.

Day 5: Bovec
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch
On day 5, you’ll travel to the charming town of Bovec, nestled in the heart of the Julian Alps. After enjoying a delicious lunch featuring local cuisine, you’ll take a cable car ride up to Kanin, the highest ski resort in Slovenia. The ride offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, making for a memorable and scenic experience in this stunning alpine region.

Special information: Today’s travel time is approximately 2 hour and 15 minutes.

Day 6: Ljubljana
Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner
On day 6, you will start with a nice morning hike in Bovec. Enjoy the untouched nature and spectacular views of the Julian Alps. After the hike, you’ll depart from Bovec and journey back towards Ljubljana, taking in the picturesque Slovenian countryside with several planned stops at breathtaking viewpoints along the route. These stops provide perfect opportunities to capture stunning photos of the lush green valleys, majestic mountains, and winding rivers that characterize Slovenia’s natural beauty.
As you make your way back to Ljubljana, reflecting on your journey through this diverse and scenic country, you’ll have time to savor the memories created during your exploration of Slovenia’s charming towns, exquisite cuisine, and stunning landscapes. Upon returning to Ljubljana, the day culminates in a memorable farewell dinner, where you can reminisce with your fellow travelers and toast to the unforgettable experiences of your Slovenian adventure.

ACCOMMODATION
Our accommodation for the trip will be an array of 3-4* hotels. We have carefully chosen the accommodation to maximise your experience on this bucket list trip.
*You will be sharing a room with another guest, in a room with twin beds, with an ensuite. Rooms will be allocated randomly, unless specified otherwise.
PRICE
£1,899 per person including all as stated above and must be booked via Intrepid Travel.

*There will be one transfer per trip for arrival and one for departure. Attendees will be recommended a flight, but if you book alternative flights, transfers will not be provided and will be at the cost of the guest.
INSURANCE
It is the attendee’s responsibility to have the appropriate travel insurance for this trip. It is compulsory for all guests to have travel insurance. Please let us know you have appropriate travel insurance before the trip.

Flights are not included as we wanted to give you the option of where to fly when and where you want. However, if you want help booking flights, Intrepid Travel is on hand to help you throughout the booking process and can book flights for you if required.
