THE TOUR

Since 2023, Outdoor Adventure Girls has been offering bespoke travel tours for their 50,000 members. The international trips will focus on outdoor adventure, pushing guests out of their comfort zone and creating incredible connections with other women in the most sought-after bucket list destinations on Earth.

Our tours are bespoke to us, and we have worked with Intrepid to ensure our trip is unique, with our itineraries offering slightly different inclusions to tours you can book as the general public, and we always offer a higher standard of accommodation on all of our trips.

For this OAG Overseas tour, we are heading to the amazing country of Egypt. If you are after temples, tombs and tea you are in the right place. This 8 day itinerary takes you to all of the famous spots in Egypt, including Giza Pyramids, Sphinx Entrance and The Grand Egyptian Museum.

Then you head on to a once-in-a-lifetime Nile river cruise towards Aswan, exploring even more culturally significant places, including a full day tour of the West Bank, Valley of the Kings and Tutankhamen’s Tomb. And if this wasn’t enough, we’ve even included a sunrise hot air balloon ride in Luxor!

ITINERARY

Day 1: Cairo

Meals Included: Dinner

Welcome to Egypt! Upon arrival meet our airport representative who will be waiting for you behind customs & will escort you to your hotel. After your welcome meeting, you’ll head to a local restaurant for a welcome dinner with your group.

Day 2: Visit Cairo – Overnight Train to Luxor

Meals Included: Breakfast and Dinner

The Pyramids and the Sphinx. Instantly familiar yet retaining a mystique and power, getting up close to these incredible pharaonic tombs is captivating. The Egyptian Museum is simply one of the world’s great museums, home to a stupendous collection of antiquities and the perfect introduction to your tour, exhibiting many of the region’s treasures. your expert guide will take you through Egypt’s rich and fascinating dynastic history.

Accommodation aboard the overnight train is in two berth cabins which convert to bunk beds. All bedding is provided on board and western style toilets are in each carriage. Your bags will be stored in your cabin, where airline style dinner and breakfast will be served. However, it may worth bringing some additional snacks, especially if you are vegetarian or have dietary requirements. Your tour leader can help you to arrange this. Despite being a tourist class train, facilities are basic. Please also keep in mind general train cleanliness may not be to the same standards you are accustomed to.

Day 3: Luxor – Karnak Temple

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

In the morning, arrive in Luxor city. Visit Karnak, one of the world’s most celebrated temple complexes, built over a period of some 2000 years, and some of it dating back to 2,055 BC. Your guided tour of the temple reveals its finest sections.

Day 4: West Bank – Luxor – Nile Cruise

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Start the morning with a Hot Air Balloon in Luxor before the sunrise. Today visit the West Bank on a full day tour. Valley of the kings: visit three royal tombs, where you will get to learn about the funerary rites of the ancient Egyptians and significance of many paintings and hieroglyphics.

Tutankhamen’s final resting place. buried under the arid hills over 60 tombs of pharaohs, many richly decorated with reliefs and paintings. Explore this sprawling and spectacular place where discoveries are still being made. Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the most famous queen of Egypt, the one that ruled for 21 years which is considered the longest period a queen ruled, the temple set in a spectacular natural amphitheatre.

The Colossi of Memnon, 17 meters high statues used to flank the entrance of the funerary temple of king Amenhotep the 3rd the grandfather of Tutankhamen.

Day 5: Nile Cruise – Kom Ombo Temple

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Kom Ombo temple (about 45km north of Aswan city) which sits picturesquely ruined on the river’s edge and provides an interesting insight into the Greco Roman period.

The temple was built approx. 181BC and is dedicated to 2 Gods; Horus the protection god and Sobek fertility god linked to the Nile Water. The temple consists of 2 identical sections: the North and South each dedicated to either god. In the Sobek section recent discoveries have been made of mummified Crocodiles, which are now displayed in the Crocodile museum attached to the temple don’t miss it!

Day 6: Aswan

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Drive early this morning to the magnificent temples of Abu Simbel, explore the great temple of Ramsis the 2nd and the small temple of his favorite wife queen Nefertari. The iconic Abu Simbel. With the four gargantuan statues of Ramses guarding the Great Temple, this is one of Egypt’s most memorable sights. Late in the afternoon, enjoy a leisurely sailing trip on a traditional felucca before returning back to the cruise for dinner.

Day 7: Aswan – Cairo

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

After breakfast, visit the beautiful Temple of Isis (the Goddess of health, marriage and wisdom) that was rescued from the rising waters of the Nile and relocated on Philae Island. It’s a marvel of decorative pylons featuring some of Egypt’s finest carvings – definitely one of the real gems of Upper Egypt. Access to the temple is by small motor boats.

Catch a flight today from Aswan to Cairo. Drive to the famous Bazar of Khan Khalili. Cairo’s Khan al Khalili Bazaar is an essential Egyptian experience. You’ll have plenty of time to lose yourself in the colors and aromas of this fascinating marketplace. one of the world’s oldest. We’ll learn how various vendors prepare popular food, explore the Al Attarin spice and El Sagha gold markets. In the evening, you will have a farewell dinner at a local restaurant with your group and guide.

Day 8: Departure day

Your trip comes to an end today. After breakfast, get a transfer to Cairo International Airport.

ACCOMMODATION

Our accommodation will be an array of hotels carefully curated for this trip. We have carefully chosen the accommodation to maximise your experience on this bucket list trip. This trip will also feature us staying overnight on a boat for the Nile cruise section of our trip.

*You will be sharing a room with another guest, in a room with twin beds, with an ensuite. Rooms will be allocated randomly, unless specified otherwise.

£1,975 per person including all as stated above and must be booked via Intrepid Travel.

To secure your place on this tour, the deposit is £200 per person. The remaining balance can be paid in full or can be paid in installments – you can speak to Intrepid about a payment plan.

FLIGHTS

Flights are not included as we wanted to give you the option of where to fly when and where you want. As a guide, there are flights to Cairo from London from around £500.

There will be one transfer per trip for arrival and one for departure.
