THE TOUR
Since 2023, Outdoor Adventure Girls has been offering bespoke travel tours for their 40,000 members. The international trips will focus on outdoor adventure, pushing guests out of their comfort zone and creating incredible connections with other women in the most sought-after bucket list destinations on Earth.
Join OAG for an unforgettable adventure to Japan, where neon-lit cities, ancient temples, incredible food, and centuries-old traditions come together in one incredible journey. Designed for adventurous women who love exploring somewhere completely different, this trip is all about discovering Japan’s most iconic sights, tasting your way through its food culture, and sharing unforgettable experiences with a brilliant group of like-minded women.
From crossing the famous Shibuya Crossing and exploring the tranquil Meiji Shrine, to standing beneath the floating torii gate on Miyajima, walking through the thousands of gates at Fushimi Inari, and exploring the atmospheric streets of Gion and Dotonbori, this is Japan at its best. With a Shinkansen journey, a hands-on Japanese cooking class, making traditional momiji manju, and plenty of opportunities to experience local culture, food, and traditions, this is so much more than a sightseeing trip.

Day 1: Tokyo

Day 2: Tokyo

Today, well head out on the metro to explore the buzzing Shibuya area where we’ll check out one of the busiest intersections in the worlkd before heading into a depachicka (underground department store foodhall!)
Next, we’ll visit Meiji Shrine. As we enter via a massive torii (gate) and notice the sights and sounds of the city fade away as we enter the traquil forest

Day 3: Tokyo – Hiroshima

Today, it’s time to leave Tokyo and travel by shinkansen to Hiroshima. This afternoon, you’ll visit the Genbaku (A-Bomb) Dome and Peace Memorial Museum, which stand testament to the fateful day in August 1945 when Hiroshima was the target for the first ever wartime use of the atomic bomb

Day 4: Hiroshima

Today you’ll make your way to the nearby island of Miyajima with its famous ‘floating’ torii gate. While here, you might like to climb (or hop on the cable car) to the top of Mt Misen for 360-degree views of the Inland Sea. Then visit a local workshop and learn how to make a momiji manju (Japanese maple-leaf shaped pastry)

Day 5: Hiroshima – Kyoto

This morning, jump back on the shinkansen to Kyoto. Originally founded as Heian-kyo (‘tranquillity and peace capital’) by Emperor Kammu in AD794, Kyoto was the capital of Japan for over 1000 years, and with over 2000 temples, shrines and gardens, there’s a lot to explore. When you arrive, head to one of the most photogenic spots in Kyoto – Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine – famous for its thousands of vermillion-coloured torii (gates) that straddle the paths and trails leading up Mt Inari.

Day 6: Kyoto
Meals included: Lunch
Enjoy a relaxed morning before heading out to an obanzai cooking class. Discover the art of Kyoto-style home cooking, centred on seasonal ingredients and simple, nourishing flavours. Under the guidance of a local instructor, you’ll prepare a selection of traditional dishes and then sit down to enjoy your creations for lunch – a delicious and authentic taste of everyday Kyoto life.

Day 7 – Kyoto

Today, make the most of your last day in Kyoto. If you haven’t done so already, you may like to see Japan’s largest pagoda at Toji Temple, or you could visit the imposing and opulent Nijo Castle – former home to the Tokugawa Shoguns who had power over the country during the Edo period. You can also check out the ‘nightingale floors’ of Ninomaru Palace, which squeak to warn of intruders. From the castle, it’s a short bus ride to Ryoan-ji, perhaps Japan’s most acclaimed Zen garden, where carefully placed rocks sit in an immaculately raked sea of gravel.

Day 8 – Kyoto-Osaka
Meals included: Dinner
Hop on board the train this morning and head to Osaka – arguably Japan’s food capital. To get situated, follow your leader on an orientation walk, and then explore this eclectic city in your free time. Meet in the evening again and take a walking tour with your leader through the Dotombori district. Tonight, why enjoy a farewell dinner with your fellow travellers and celebrate the end of this fast and furious journey in Japan.

Day 9 – Departure

With no activities planned today, your trip will come to an end. You will transfer to the airport by private vehicle.

Our accommodation for the trip will be an array of hotel and hostel style accommodation.

*There will be one transfer per trip for arrival and one for departure. Attendees will be recommended a flight, but if you book alternative flights, transfers will not be provided and will be at the cost of the guest.
INSURANCE
It is the attendee’s responsibility to have the appropriate travel insurance for this trip. It is compulsory for all guests to have travel insurance. Please let us know you have appropriate travel insurance before the trip.

Flights are not included as we wanted to give you the option of where to fly when and where you want. However, if you want help booking flights, Intrepid Travel is on hand to help you throughout the booking process and can book flights for you if required.

Do you want to pay in instalments? Once you’ve reserved your space you can arrange this with Intrepid – no extra fees and your final balance will be due 120 days before the departure date.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To help keep things smooth for everyone, all of our trips now come with a booking deadline between 120-90 days before departure. After this point, trips may not go ahead due to low demand. So, if you’ve been eyeing up an OAG adventure, make sure you secure your spot early, otherwise you might suddenly find the trip you were excited about has gone. Booking ahead means no surprises and ensures you don’t miss out.
